Fire Extinguishers

 

Fire extinguishers are critical in the intervention of a developing fire and are a legal requirement in all workplaces.

PRM Fire sells tests and services fire extinguishers for all classes of fire and our trained technicians inspect, certify and repair them in strict adherence to AS1851.

PRM Fire can appropriately select and install the correct size and type of extinguisher for any potential hazard.

It is essential that fire extinguisher maintenance be carried out regularly to ensure that the equipment will work when you need it most. After an extinguisher, has been used, even if only partially, it must be recharged or replaced.

Types of extinguishers:

  • Class A – Ordinary combustible solids
    Wood, paper, cloth, plastics, rubber, coal, carbon-based compounds etc.

  • Class B – Flammable and combustible liquids
    Petrol, oil, paint, thinners, kerosene, alcohol, etc.

  • Class C – Flammable gases
    L.P.G., Butane, Acetylene, Hydrogen, natural gas and Methane etc.

  • Class D – Combustible metals
    Magnesium, aluminum, sodium or potassium etc.

  • Class E – Electrically energised equipment
    Computers, switchboards, power boards, etc.

  • Class F – Cooking oils and fats
    Cooking oils and fats usually found in industrial kitchens

 

Fire Blankets

Fire blankets are made from a flame retardant material used to extinguish small fires. When placed over a fire, the blanket smothers and starves the fire of oxygen and is Ideal in areas such as kitchens or where fats and oils hazards may exist.
