PRM Fire are qualified to assess and supply Annual and Supplementary Fire Safety Statements.

Under clause 177 and clause 180 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 building owners must have fire safety statements issued by a qualified inspector. The fire safety statement is a record of maintenance of the fire safety systems within the building. All New and Existing buildings require a Fire Safety Statement except Class 1a and 10 buildings as outlined in Part A3.2 of the National Constructions Code.

The law requires building owners to engage a qualified person to assess fire safety measures in buildings each year. If the inspection is not performed properly by a qualified person, the building owner a may be held liable.

There are two types of fire safety statements, annual and supplementary. The annual fire safety statement must be done once every year and cover the maintenance of all essential fire safety measures in the building. The supplementary fire safety statement covers the maintenance of critical fire safety measures that must be done more frequently (e.g. every 6 months).

The inspection and maintenance of fire safety systems must be done by a properly qualified person to a standard no less than that to which the measure was originally designed, as identified on the building’s fire safety schedule.

PRM Fire will report on, identifying fire measures and their standards, the measures’ capacity to perform to their standards, report any issues in respect to paths of travel to the exits, identify any defects, and supply a Fire Safety Statement for the building owner.
